Congress Must Address Immigration Reform

Yesterday, President Barack Obama met with congressional leaders – including Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Refugees – to chart a roadmap designed to move comprehensive immigration reform forward in 2009. It may appear silly to expect Mr. Obama, Mr. Schumer and other congressional leaders to pass comprehensive immigration reform this year – let alone this congress. Even though the task is daunting, immigration reform can no longer languish; it must be addressed.
