Politics by Nansen on August 23rd, 2009 with 1 Comment so far.Interesting to note that this exchange is only now surfacing. Little or nothing was mentioned in mainstream media reports about the town hall regarding this impassioned veteran taking Baird to task…

Baird Plunges to New Depths
Politics by Nansen on August 20th, 2009 with 2 Comments so far.Southwest Washington Congressman Brian Baird just doesn’t get it.
After finally apologizing for outrageous remarks he made last week about opponents of ObamaCare, and agreeing to schedule town halls to hear from constituents, Baird reverted to the rhetorical equivalence of inserting both feet into his mouth.
At a lunch meeting of the Vancouver Rotary, several sources confirm that Baird cracked: “If there’s a Ryder truck parked outside, it’s probably for me.” That’s obviously a thinly veiled reference to domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh, to whom Baird infamously compared constituents that disagree with him last week.
Town Halls: DeFazio Grilled, Baird Surfaces
Politics by Evan on August 19th, 2009 with No Comments so far.First, to Oregon, where Rep. DeFazio faced tough but civil questioning from several town hall audiences tonight:
Across the Columbia River to the north, Brian Baird finally surfaced from his secret hiding place to face constituents. Unsurprisingly, they weren’t universally happy with him…
Brian Baird: A Junket Junky?
Politics by Nansen on August 18th, 2009 with No Comments so far. It’s been a rough few news weeks for 3rd C.D. Brian Baird. Tomorrow, he goes on with Lars Larson to do a radio town hall, which he reluctantly agreed to after weathering several days of negative press.
Ahead of what’s sure to be a debut wrought with fireworks, I thought it fair to review some of the junketeering Representative Baird has been accused of recently.
In comparison to his reluctance to hold town halls–and his associated reprehensible comments–Baird’s travel to far-flung exotic destinations has encountered relatively far less outrage. Still, his jet-setting has garnered him as much, if not more, time in the national limelight.
Baird’s Apology Rings Hollow, True Colors Revealed
Politics by Nansen on August 12th, 2009 with 4 Comments so far.Brian Baird issued a half-hearted apology today for his bizarre and reprehensible slurs directed at opponents of ObamaCare. As someone who has worked with local Democrats in the past, including the Congressman, I was the first to demand an immediate apology days ago. It finally came today, albeit several days late, and many words short of being sincere. (You can read the rambling letter online here.)
Let’s recap: if you are like me, you were probably absolutely shocked by Baird’s outlandish “Brown Shirts,” “lynch mobs,” and “Timothy McVeigh” comments last week. But as recently as yesterday, he was still driving down that path hard: labeling opponents of ObamaCare “un-American.” The former college professor should know better.
